Donors Forum's Environmental Grantmakers Group
invites you to a session in which a group of reporters
covering communities of color from across the country
will describe what it is like to report on urban environmental
issues. What are the key environmental justice issues
facing communities of color and currently of interest
to the ethnic media? How difficult is it to obtain databases
and other information around urban environmental issues?
How does the Fellows experience in Chicago differ
from their earlier explorations into similar issues
in Los Angeles? These and other issues will be discussed
at this meeting at the McCormick Foundation's new headquarters.
Pre-registration is required
and space is limited.

Engage for Results: Involving Grantees
and Other Stakeholders in Your Grantmaking
Wednesday and Thursday, September 16 and 17 | Donors
Forum Large Conference Room (Suite 1535) | 9 am - 5
pm (Wednesday) and 9 am - 3 pm (Thursday)
In tight economic times, it's critical to find ways
to partner effectively with grantees to make the best
use of limited resources. Could you solicit grantee
feedback on your grantmaking practices? Incorporate
grantee and community input when setting grantmaking
priorities? Delegate funding decisions to community
representatives? Build staff and trustee boards that
reflect the communities you support? This all sounds
good in theory; but, what is most appropriate for your
organization? How best can you go about it, especially
during these times? Join the 75 grantmakers who have
already attended this highly rated two-day seminar offered
by Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (GEO)
and make your grantmaking more effective by increasing
the involvement of those most affected by it. This seminar
is co-designed with Interaction Institute for Social
Change, and presented in partnership with Donors
Forum, Council of Michigan Foundations, Donors Forum
of Wisconsin, and Indiana Alliance of Grantmakers.
The discounted
cost for Donors Forum's Members is $895 (first person)
and $895 (second person). Register by July 15. To
register, send an email to
Kamasha
Hendrickson, or call 202-898-0219.
